BUG PEOPLE

The Bug People are a race of bugs more evolved than their common counterparts. Due to the high levels of HaFurin in the land, an element believed to have been created by the goddess Isa that is said to heighten evolutionary speeds, many species of all types experience heightened sapience and physical capabilites. These fully evolved Bugs are exceedingly rare--even when two fully evolved Bugs mate, the chances of their offspring being fully evolved is slim, and many Bug People, while living substantially longer than their unevolved counterparts, tend to die young. Bug People themselves are not particularly interesting in their biology compared to standard bugs. Aside from developing proper speech capabilities and, in some cases, more humanoid mouths and eyes they are, at their core, simply average bugs much larger than average (spanning from 2 to 4 feet tall). Levels of humanoid tendencies vary between individuals. While some Bugs walk on two legs, others continue to crawl. Bug People tend to face discrimination in human society, leaving many to prefer living on their own away from people. They are the center of many debates, all of which they'd much rather not be a part of. Many concerns are raised over the ethics of being scared of the Bugs--a fear of bugs is common, of course, but if the bugs have human intelligence and awareness, where is the line drawn between fear and discrimination? Some so-called bug advocate groups believe the bugs' evolution should be stopped entirely, as they believe having the capabilities to comprehend the darkness of the world is a curse rather than a blessing. the bugs seriously couldnt care less. Bug people have their own langauge they speak amongst themselves, but many are fluent in the people's common language, albiet many struggle with stutters and other speech difficulties. In later years, the Bugs are fully accepted into human society, but the main plot does not take place during that time so Whoops! All Bug Racism!
